The Pachakuti Mesa Tradition: Cross-Cultural Shamanic Arts – Introductory Workshops Led by Mona Rain

Welcome! As a Sanctioned Teacher and Lineage Carrier in the The Pachakuti Mesa Tradition: Cross-Cultural Shamanic Arts for Personal and Planetary Renewal, Curandera Mona Rain is honored to facilitate Introductory Pachakuti Mesa Tradition (PMT) Workshops.

PMT is a way of doing and being in the world that encompasses both personal and planetary healing for harmony within, and without. It is a robust wisdom path that organically opens the doors of the heart, mind, body, and soul for a clearer and deeper understanding one’s value and service within the cosmos.

Mona describes the three PMT Introductory Workshops as opportunities to begin experiencing the empowering foundational practices of this cross-cultural shamanic arts tradition – particularly the importance of conscious presence. These workshops impart rich ancient wisdom that’s fully relevant to modern times; those attending will gain an understanding of the powerful applications for this shamanic work that can be applied immediately to their everyday lives.

These half-day (four-hour) workshops can be offered separately, on different days, or together as a weekend workshop. Workshops may be arranged to take place anyplace throughout the USA, and Peru. To attain the full benefit of the teachings shared, it is recommended that the Workshops be attended in the order they appear here:

Workshop 1~ Ritual Cosmos: Introduction to the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition of Shamanism

A centerpiece of the PMT tradition is ritual and ceremonial mastery of the mesa, as passed down through the lineage of Peruvian curanderos. The mesa is an altar-like arrangement of empowered objects that serves as a shamanic tool; it is used in PMT practice to engage enlightened beings and elemental energies for restoration of balance, health, and harmony between humans, other dimensions, and our natural world.

Mesas are used for healing, ceremony, journeying, manifesting, divination, transformation, and communion with the spirit realm. The mesa is both a reflection of you, and an extension of your Self. Come create a basic mesa, and begin to experience yourSelf, and all sentient beings, in a whole new way!

Workshop 2~ Enchanted Ground:  Creating Sacred Spaces for Healing and Holding Council

In this workshop, we will discuss the creation and holding of sacred space for the self as a “personal retreat,” and doing the same on behalf of others for group ceremony. We’ll demonstrate concepts of sacred space that are used in indigenous traditions from around the world, and share ways of deepening our relationship with the sacred landscapes of Mother Earth. We’ll also practice the council process typical of many indigenous traditions.

This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in learning how to establish an atmosphere supporting the honoring of such traditions in community, and/or for personal spiritual practice.

Workshop 3~ Food of the Gods:  The Despacho as Ritual Expression of Gratitude and Reciprocity

This workshop engages the community in a uniting and healing ceremony involving the creation of a despacho. Despacho is the Spanish word for a ritual offering made with reverent intention in sacred reciprocity (“AYNI”) for that which has been given to us. Despachos are most often created to honor and give thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Apukuna (Mountain Spirits). They can also be done as offerings for good luck, marriages, births, deaths, prosperity, and new homes or jobs.

*Connect* Through the Creation and Nurturing of *Conscious Presence*

Upon completion of the PMT Workshop Series, whether students and seekers go on to pursue PMT Apprenticeship studies or not, they move forward with vital means of connection and expression through ancient, generative rituals. This “conscious presence” is an empowering key to deepening one’s shamanic practices, and to being more empowered in everyday life. Mona explains:

“In all shamanic practice, it is vital to learn how to be fully present, in a state of reverence, for the sanctity of ancient indigenous rituals and ceremonies. Based on the teachings of The Pachakuti Mesa Tradition: Cross-Cultural Shamanic Arts for Personal and Planetary Renewal, we energetically expand this responsibility. Together, we create a ‘vessel’ of higher vibrations that is inviting, and capable of holding, the humbled presence of the Ancestors, as well as the gifts and needs of each individual participant in our circle who is exploring this tradition.”
